When you think of the word rain, a lot of “weather” related images come to mind. In the desert it is easy to imagine a soft gentle rain that delivers water to the scorched earth. In terms of the recent JFSA Rain Dance-a-Thon, the Rain brought together over a hundred Las Vegas teenagers from all walks of life who took this opportunity to provide sustenance to needy families. The students who attended the dance-a-thon represented synagogues, churches, clubs and high schools from across the valley.
Participants of the Rain Dance-a-Thon held on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Rain Nightclub located in the Palms Hotel and Casino raised over $10,000 to benefit the programs and services provided by JFSA. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who made this event possible.
The Stirling Club at Turnberry Place was filled with 24 karat gold on Sunday, April 19, 2009, as the Founders and Patrons of the JFSA Holocaust Resource Center were recognized during a brunch that was held in their honor. The honorees Edythe Katz Yarchever and Judge Gil Yarchver; Ron and Judy Mack; Lillian and Henry Kronberg; and Priscilla Schwartz-Hodes and Abe Hodes are true treasures of our community.
