Volunteer Opportunities

The Volunteer program is a vital branch of the JFSA.

Our dedicated volunteers give their time, energy and experience to assist the vulnerable population in Clark County.

Jewish Family Service Agency is a comprehensive social service agency committed to addressing the human service needs of children, adolescents and adults. While guided by charitable Jewish principles and values, JFSA's programs and services are open to all in the community.

Shopper/Transportation: JFSA Volunteers transport senior clients who are unable to drive themselves. Volunteers drive clients to the grocery store, medical appointments and other essential destinations.

Friendly Visitor: Gain a new friend. Begin a one-on-one relationship with JFSA clients who are homebound or in need of a friendly visit. Transportation and companionship to otherwise inaccessible cultural events or outings helps reduce senior loneliness and depression.

Bikur Cholim: Volunteers trained to visit ill patients in hospitals and nursing homes. Volunteers bring the community to the bedside to lift the spirit of those who may feel forgotten.

Telephone Reassurance: Homebound seniors in need of social interaction look forward to their regular telephone calls from JFSA volunteers. This service insures that an isolated person does not become a neglected one.

Food Pantry: Over 1,000 clients each month receive nutritious food at the JFSA Food Pantry. The volunteer-operated pantry is open 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Volunteers prepare bags of food and toiletries for the homeless and families in need, stock shelves and organize pantry donations. Regular weekly shifts and on-call opportunities are available.

Share Your Talents: Office skills, development/ fundraising projects, legal services, public relations, creative and writing skills, social service experience, carpentry, medical or dental services, catering, car repair, printing, entertainment or any professional/business service that you would like to contribute to JFSA and our clients.

Mitzvah Projects: Create your own volunteer project with friends, family, co-workers or schoolmates. Special projects include food drives, holiday baskets for adopt-a-family or adopt-a-senior programs and fundraising events.

Volunteer with a friend; volunteers are great in pairs!

Volunteer one day, volunteer every week.
