Volunteer with JFSA and make a positive change in your community.
We match your skills, availability and passions with our volunteer opportunities. Our projects range from once a year to once a week.

Food Pantry

Assist in serving clients needs by passing out various food and toiletry items to needy individuals/families.

Senior Companion

  • Senior Companions are volunteers 55 and over who provide assistance and friendship to seniors who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. The program aims to keep seniors independent longer, and provide assistance to family caregivers. Senior Companions will meet once a week, in-person, with either our home bound senior or Holocaust survivor to help keep them company and spread some cheer. This is a very unique and rewarding position, especially considering that the population of Holocaust survivors is diminishing daily.

  • Senior Companions serve 15 to 40 hours per week helping an average of two to four adult clients live independently in their own homes.Volunteers receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where they serve, supplemental insurance while on duty, and may qualify to earn a tax-free hourly stipend.

Choose Home - Veteran Program

JFSA's Choose Home program is looking for a few good men and women, 55 and over, who would like to help a local Veteran a couple of days per week. Volunteers assist home-bound Veterans with light household chores and provide transportation for appointments and errands.

Foster Grandparents

  • Foster Grandparents are role models, mentors, and friends to children with exceptional needs. The program provides a way for volunteers age 55 and over to stay active by serving children and youth in their communities.

  • Volunteers serve at thousands of local organizations that:

    • Help children learn to read and provide one-on-one tutoring

    • Help children who have been abused or neglected

Delivery Drivers

  • Food Donation Driver:

    • Driver to help JFSA better serve the community by retrieving in-kind donations from various stores across the valley and delivering the donations to be utilized in our pantry.

  • Pantry Delivery Driver:

    • We are in need of drivers to assist in delivering food to our homebound senior clientele without means of retrieving their food allocation themselves. Drivers would take a handful of deliveries every other week.

  • Senior Share Driver:

    • Drivers will assist in delivery of our Senior Share care packages delivered to 30 residents twice monthly.

Peer-to-peer Tutor

We are in the process of creating a new tutoring program and are in need of H.S. student volunteer tutors to assist local students in achieving their education goals.

In-kind Donation Volunteer

JFSA is currently seeking a volunteer to help sift through various tangible goods donated to JFSA. The volunteer will sort through the items in order to determine:

  • Item type – i.e. toy, children’s clothing, adult, clothing, kitchen items, etc.

  • Quality of the item

  • Make a determination as to whether or not it is an item that could be useful to our clientele and therefore beneficial to store, or if it would be best to donate to Opportunity Village.
